Another Day 1

I figure if SR is going to help me I need to be honest with people here. I was so depressed yesterday that I drank. Very little by my standards, but it was still alcohol.

And so today is another Day 1.

Well, time to get on your bicycle again mate. You need to address why you drank and change that so that you can succeed.

I think seeing a doctor about your depression is a better way to go than drinking, Frank.

We know you can do it Frank. I got off to a rocky start too - I was so used to drinking to cope with things. You will get past that stage though - and we promise it does get better. When I was anxious in the early days of quitting it did help to post here. It's a good way to distract yourself from drinking thoughts. You're bound to be irritable and frustrated - but you will rise above it.

Should I be posting here or on the Class of April 2015 Part 2 thread?

I guess I'm ready to talk.

There's been a lot of good suggestion here frank - why not give some of them a try?

Someone I know always says it is won't not can't. We have the power to do what is best for us, sometimes we just forget. Keep trying.

Thank you Dee and Straightshoot.

I've been trying for two years. There is a point a which one must accept reality. I'm an alcoholic and it's going to kill me. Not the worst option for a severe depressive. Among the options for relieving severe depression: death, booze, sleep. I can't sleep, but I can drink.

And not to get too far off topic, but I've read a lot of threads here and descriptions of detox are child's play. Drink like I have and experience the real horror of detox. Maybe that's my contribution here, to warn people off getting to that point. It is a fiery hell that can't be described.

I'm sorry you've had some hard detoxes - mine were too by the end. All the more reason not to turn to the bottle though?

There's a lot more options for treating depression than sleep drink or death Frank.

Do you see a Dr at all?

Have you heard of AV? It's all over your post.

Being honest: It will be HORRIBLE for a while but if you keep working thought it you will build time and it will be your new reality. You can make your life what you want it to be, but it is completely up to you.

I also wanted to tell you to feel free to be honest. We have all been at a dark place in some way and at some point so don't worry about us judging you. We are here to support you and give you our perspective.

Welcome and hope to see you around.
