The stuff we can do now!
The stuff we can do now!
There are so many things that I used to not be able to do because of my drinking. I was promised that if I just continued on this path of sobriety, so many new and exciting doors would open up for me.
One will take place in 2 weeks. For Christmas, my 15 year old son bought us tickets to a hard rock festival on April 25th, because he knew how much I liked a few of the bands that are playing. We have hotel reservations for 2 nights and we are both looking forward to having a blast. No way in hell I could have done this while still drinking the way I used to drink.
So I raise my coffee cup brimming with strong Cuban coffee as a toast to the fun of being sober.

OH yeah! Slipknot and Godsmack!

Sounds like a great time for you and your son, BMac. When I read the thread title it sounded like a Dr. Seuss title. Oh the things we can do and the places we'll go! All achievable if we quit drinking.
I don't know about you but my life shrank into a tiny box in which I was imprisoned. Much better to be free!

I am constantly amazed by the things I am able to do now that I'm no longer drinking.
While I was well aware of how much time I was wasting being hungover, some part of me wrongly believed that, "at least the night before makes it worth it!" But I never had fun drinking -- the honeymoon phase has long since gone.
And drinking made me incapable of doing something as simple as going to the movies.
