New to the forum
Hi all,
So, as the title says, I'm new to this forum. I'm looking for support as I start my new sober life and would love to give support to others. This forum appears pretty big, so I'm looking forward to posting and getting used to the site.
I'm on day two of being alcohol free. I've struggled with alcohol misuse for many years but two days ago I ended up in hospital (again) and it's affected my work so this has to stop. I need to start to be honest with everyone and sort myself out and I finally feel ready to do this.
Anyway, hi everyone.

Welcome rose.
I was so thankful when I found SR - I knew I never had to be alone with my struggle. Everyone understood and encouraged me. The support is amazing - and we're open 24/7. You can do it rose - it'll feel great to be free.

Thanks everyone. I was planning on getting to sleep, but I just can't stop looking through all the areas and threads!
I was wondering if you had any advice on where to get started. Should I get straight into the 12 steps and find a sponsor? I feel like deciding on a sponsor should be a personal and quite big choice, in which case it wouldn't make sense for that to be the first thing to do. Perhaps I should start the steps alone and focus on posting throughout the forum and starting my blog. I think I've just answered myself! X

I've been advised to go to meetings from my previous counsellor but the thought of even getting to the venue scares and intimidates me way too much. I'm hoping I'll find the strength to push through those feelings soon and get to a meeting. X
Welcome, Rose,
There are many paths to recovery and you will find a variety of recovery methods here, so take your time and look around. There's a lot going on here, but we are a family and we do understand how hard this is.

Hi Rose! It's nice to meet you. Like Anna said. ..there's many ways to do this. Read and post a lot here and you will find your way, what feels right for you. SR has helped me get and stay sober. ...I'm on this site a few times a day. Stick with us. ..we'll all be rooting for you.
Rose you are welcome here, just like AA all we care about is that you have a desire to quit drinking.
You can post all you want, at any time you want and there will be an understanding reader.
At two days like you are, post alot, read alot and throw yourself into learning how we have moved on with our lives. It can be bumpy, but there is support here to get you through the bumps
I promise, there is not a one among us who regrets finding this place and the support here.
