Weekender , 10th of april 2015 , lets get through together
Hope you're doing ok strangeangel, that sounds rough. I know I get frustrated when my friends/family/ex when we were together didn't support me in the way I felt they should, I think it's just difficult for anyone to understand what we go through if they're not an alcoholic themselves
Have you spoken to him about how you feel and what you want from him? Sometimes we just have to be very direct I think

Checking in tonight before watching a movie with mr. strat.
Mesaman-I've definitely been through your area. Gunnison can be pretty brutal, but I did not know it was one of the coldest areas. When I think of Gunnison, I always think about the Alfred Packer story. I didn't know if you knew about this, but you will be having cyclists around your part of the woods this year in late June.
Bmac-I had no idea Bed, Bath and Beyond had a man card turning in department.
Considering you're turning in your man card tomorrow, you're going to start watching Nicolas Sparks films, right?
Solarion-keep on hanging in there. I remember Dee mentioning engaging the Chuck Norris AV defense! I always got a kick out of that one. You're doing awesome!
Strangeangel-you're doing great. I agree with Bim about asking for more snuggles. Sometimes with sobriety, there is a lack of recognition for what we're going through by others around us. However, you always have us here. We can relate.
Yonder-keep up the great work! It was great to see you at the SR chat meeting tonight!

OH dear god, I am watching "Married at First Sight"....and I'm watching it On Demand; meaning I chose this. I called my psychiatrist and the voice mail said, "If this is a true emergency, hang up and dial 911". Do I dial? This is an emergency isn't it? I'm turning in my man card first thing tomorrow morning at the nearest Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Oooh, TV shows. "Better Call Saul" has been a real winner in my book this year. I also like "The Americans" and "Black Sails", the latter is sort of my guilty pleasure. I always wanted to be a pirate as a kid, sailing the Caribbean from island to island, never knowing what treasure was around the corner.
Going to be an early night here, hitting the road early. Got my little $17 room reserved down on the Pacific. I see a hammock, some ocean waves, and very spotty internet in my future. Going to bring a book by Junot Diaz down with me and leave technology behind for 36 hours. I will drive as safely as I can, I know the route well and I am cautious and responsible behind the wheel. My favorite part of the drive is when you come down from the mountains into the hot, humid sugar cane fields and roll down all the windows. All the best to you folks, keep the sober weekend going. I will likely check in when I get settled, gotta keep the support system close!
Buen viaje friends, wherever you may roam.

Thanks for the support.. Ya, I did tell him what I need. I think he's unsure of how to handle it too. I'm an emotional mess and he's not a big talker.. So I'm probably mistaking apathy for nervousness on his part. He's a really great guy, and he's stuck with me through my drunken days and my other crap, so I need to be grateful for that. Thank goodness for sr! Venting really helps.
Have a great weekend bigs! Sounds wonderful.
Amazon.com has marshmallow shooters!!
All the talk about lobster rolls has me craving one...haven't had a good one in years.
Ruby. ..I'm glad your son is better and I hope your mom stays well.
Rose...bravo to you for making it through the bbq...good job!!
I'm just glad that the weekend is here. Time goes by so fast that it's mind boggling.
No big plans for the weekend. ..a vegetarian street fair of some sort tomorrow and yard work. That's about it for me. ..lots of rest, tv, and hopefully some reading.

Good evening everyone! Mr. Ruby came home and we are hanging out in the living room. I'm pretty certain that he stopped for refreshments on the way home but he's still here. Complaining that he thinks his anti depressant makes him forget stuff. I couldn't help but point out that he's still been drinking which doesn't help. He's pondering about how his mother plans on leaving her money. In trust to each of my kids until they're 23. Husband thinks he should have a say as to whether they get it or not depending on whether they are "responsible " enough. Which reminds me, I need to change the beneficiaries on my life insurance and make a will. Mr. Ruby said once he'd buy a brand new big truck with the proceeds. Kids could fend for themselves for college. The money would be gone in a year. Sigh.
Strangeangel I was wondering how Dig was. I should watch it. I hope you're doing well.
Behan, congrats on 200 posts! That's awesome. Keep going!
I'm tired. I think I'll head to bed soon. I went to a 7 p.m. AA meeting, saw a friend there, got some peaceful time away from home. Gymnastics class tomorrow. I think little miss Ruby is well enough to go. She's been bouncing around the house and needs to blow off steam.

HaF, a vegetarian street fair? That sounds intriguing. Have fun!
Son was up until 8:30 and went to bed unprompted so he's still not feeling a hundred percent. The unprompted bedtime almost never happens. Thanks guys.

Hi everyone! I'm joining in a little late, but I'm here! I was traveling last weekend and had a busy week at work. I'm enjoying a quiet Friday night with my dogs, cat and a bowl of ice cream! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Yes Ruby ...I'm trying a vegetarian diet...ugh. I crave bacon. But my cholesterol successfully dropped so much that my dr let me cut my med in half. This is just since Feb. My goal is to get off the statins completely cause I blame every ailment as a side effect. But the change in diet is tough. You have to get creative.
It looks like I am miles behind. Spent the entire day, about 8 hours or so, walking and climbing over rocks and downed trees, and fighting my way through the thorny growth.
Spent a good amount of time untangling my fishing line from thorny branches and twigs from trees that seem to jump out and grab the line. The branches are like a magnet to fishing line. Trying to maneuver to get just the right drift while trying to avoid the "hazards". And there are more unseen hazards below the surface. It is interesting that I thought of a golf analogy while fishing today. When I started coming home with more golf balls than I took, I knew I was getting better. Now when fishing, I come home with more 'tackle' than what I took.
Actually, I am just more aware of the carelessness of other fishers. And the litter - I am ready to start a campaign to stop the state from stocking trout. It's beyond disgusting how these people have no respect for the water. Trash everywhere.
Hard to explain spending time on a clear running stream tumbling down through the rocks and small canyons, walled on only one side and attempting to fool a fish.
I fooled five today. Took a well deserved hot shower and then a nap. 6 hours later...
So that was my day. No drinking and no tobacco. Looks like the weekender thread has taken on a life of it's own. Glad to see all the new faces and newer folks stepping up and keeping things moving.

Morning 7am here. So many posts to comment on I will have a little think (the Saoutchik brain only works at dial up speed)
My jog-a-rette took me to the diamond quarter (Hatton Garden) scene of a big bank vault heist earlier in the week, maybe they dropped a couple of sparklers when they made their getaway

Had some coffee and can think now.
Enjoy your weekend BigS - it sounds awesome be careful not to stray into El Salvador (gangs etc)
Strangeangel. I hope you are bearing up. Just remember with guys you have to tell them, they don't generally intuit things
Bmac. I have an ex wife and two daughters so I think my man card was checked in for me
Strategery. Nicholas Sparks!
Ruby. You won't be needing that Life Insurance, your going to live forever
LBrain I'm no fisherman but I totally get your enjoyment (and frustrations). Great post
HaF being a veggie is a good thing for yourself and everyone else (carbon footprint, animal welfare etc)

Hey LB ,
sounds like litter is your new vocation all we need to do now is sort out how to get paid for tidying the place up. you have sober time now and this sounds like a cause you could give some time too .
Maybe start a charity and get sponsored for cleaning up the wilds pay yourself and others for their time, decent clothing and recycling what you find .. A fishing related tabletop sale or a bring and buy sale would be a good place to start . Maybe sell badges and patches for responsible people to wear who do tidy up as the go ..
I always had old rods and stuff that cluttered the place up that were too good to throw in the trash so thats why a bring and buy sale appeals .
Just an idea ..
Saturday morning coffee is on
not sure where to go today i feel the call of somewhere wild and beachy .. although snuggling down in my warm bed also seems like a good option as i've a good book called "the phoenix suburb" to read all about local history .
Later , m

I will get back to you all on that one. That's actually a recovery topic I want to write about.
But for now... I don't have time to catch up on the thread... I have the gym to attend to. First day back and excited to get moving!
Finally going to be 60 tomorrow. First one! I will be getting at least 25,000 steps a day in on my fitbit!
Good sober morning world!

Hope everyone made it through... Rose?
Side note... Who is using the Orange format? I like it better than the blue? Ha ha... Who is asking? What orange format?
Sao.... I think that's what I might be thinking. A year ago I was way out the lines. Today not so much. Nothing changed but my sobriety got stable and stronger. In that I found normalcy. Not the sameness necessarily.
Mostly because normal, to all our benefit, has a very wide range to consider and include. So ... I might be good on this topic.
The writer in me sees an opportunity to express how this kind of just came about. Helps me own the changes to write about them. Soz... Thanks for pointing that out.
And spam is normal... Look in the mirror if you don't love it and perhaps ask why? Why?

Welcome sunrises!
HaF- I have been vegetarian for 19 years, it really is worth the change, well done!
It's 10am here in the UK, I'm off to pick my sister up from station, so it has to be a booze free day due to having to drop her back at the station at 5pm. Quick plan for post 5pm:
* I have heart bunting to sew (a kit given to me as a gift)
* I have this site to go through
* I can research more into secular recovery vs AA
* Maybe watch a film with tea
* Have a relaxing bath
* See the OH
Love to all, will check in later x
