6 pack

Husband just left to the driving range. I have one hour free to myself! WooHOO.

Normally, I would race out to Walgreen's to buy a six pack to stash in my favorite hiding spot, and perhaps get in one, maybe two cans; before his return.
I seriously thought this would not be a bad idea, for about 5 seconds.

While waiting for him to pack up his gear to leave the house, I had enough time to actually think,
"Then I will be miserable for the rest of the night because I can't drink the other four, PLUS I won't sleep half the night; knowing I COULD drink another while he was sleeping (If I was really quiet) and I will wake up in the morning planning my day on how I could buy more, or maybe 1 small mickey of vodka- and off I will be running with the circus again."

So instead, I sit down with my friends at SR. I grabbed an ice cold water.
I am ok. Still sober.

I think your latter plan is a winner!

Feels better this plan eh? Goodonya :)

I used to play that game too - running out and buying something when a quick opportunity arouse. Interestingly I became a bit of an adrenaline junkie over time and would actually get caught up in the game of not being caught. :a213: I don't miss those days.

Me too Anna, and looking back it seems ridiculous.....thought I was pretty slick sometimes. I finally wised up like Stormi here thank goodness.

I relate 100% to everything you said here, used to do exactly the same
So glad you thought better of it!!

Oh Anna, you could not be more right. We live on a long street. I would watch which direction he drove, and at the exact time he turned the corner, I was backing out of the driveway. He must have figured that out as he got into the habit of "forgetting" something. In the end, I waited ten minutes...just in case. Here I am an hour later, booze free and sober. Imagine that- thinking it through really does work. :)

What we used to put ourselves through - it was so ridiculous. :( Happy you didn't cave Stormi - you're doing a great job.

Good job working through it.

Exellent Stormi

TomTom75 04-09-2015 01:27 AM

YOU are now in control rather than being being controlled by your drinking habits. That's one thing I like about being sober!

Great job, Stormi!
