Guess What Day It Is
Guess What Day It Is
Here it is again. It's the day when some folks are just getting over the past weekend and some are starting to wind down for the upcoming weekend.
Some are trying to catch up and some are hoping to finish a project early with their mind on the weekend.
Some people are starting to talk about bar-b-q and outdoor activities or discussing where they want to go for Friday happy hour. And we just sit on the sidelines knowing that happy hour is not gonna be a part of our plans. And that beer drinking cookout is probably not a good idea.
There is so much to do without drinking. Amazingly, I have discovered there is a lot more to do that doesn't involve drinking than does. Somehow we were able to incorporate drinking into every day activities that most people did not. Think about it - it's true.
Start making plans for sober activities. Look forward to keeping your head clear and eyes seeing straight. Wake up feeling refreshed instead of like you were dragged through the mud all night.
More importantly, focus on your work and and the tasks at hand. No need to be distracted.

What? It's not Wednesday? Thank you Brain for a marvelous post.
When I think of the weekend now, I think of all the things I can get done, not how am I going to stock up on alcohol and manage my unmanageable life.
I take my young daughter to gymnastics class at 9 a.m. on Saturday. I take for Granted that on Saturday, I will awake clear headed and not feeling ill and not still reekinG of alcohol. In the "before time" I would have been miserable. I probably wouldn't have even signed my daughter up for gymnastics.
I'm grateful and I'm here. Thanks to all the wonderful people on SR.

Big birthday party this weekend for one of my kids. Even at my worst I never had alcohol at kids parties so it just a normal party for me and I'm thanking God it is. I won't even be thinking about alcohol since that is the norm anyway. I am getting in that bounce house for a few minutes though because it's just plain fun!
But it is Thursday, are you lot still stuck in Wednesday?
Actually LBrain has an excellent point, most especially for those who are working through recovery: don't let the weekend sneak up on you, make plans. It will be Friday before you know it...
And it will be Friday here first.
