Took me until my 40's to get serious....

At 41 I finally, really, actually, with commitment and with heart - embraced sobriety.

It's still sticking and I believe that through my daily intention, gratitude and effort together with help from Spirit - I will live the rest of my blessed days in sobriety.

(PS - yeah, I wish I'd gotten it sooner too)

Only stooped drinking 50 days ago...my first ever try...and, I have just turned 56... I am amazingly grateful to be sober...but am in the midst of a real treacle of emotions and I suspect now some deep depression. But I wouldnt go backwards for anything...x

Day 1 and I'm 39, I've known I have an alcohol problem for about 25 years, since the first time I drank and puked...

Need to really "TRY" this time, I would like to enter my 40's sober and calm...

I'm 47 and trying again. To be honest though I could take or leave alcohol in my 20s and had never drunk at home until my 30s. I was happy then. I think I developed situational depression due to being quite isolated in a foreign country and started drinking to deal with it in my mid-30s.

At around 25 stopped for a very short while.
Around 40 stopped for 3 years.
Around 53 stopped for 3 years.

Been sober since the age of 57.
7 1/2 years without a drink or drug.

For a drunk such as myself, the sober life truly is the best life.

I was 39.

I think I had to reach the point where I was finally utterly convinced that drinking would kill me.

I had a lot of immaturity and denial to work through.

I was 39 when I realized that I couldn't keep on. I was a late starter to daily drinking at 30. Went through a divorce and went a little crazy. Got pregnant at 39 stayed stopped, started again, got pregnant at 42 stayed stopped and then started again, getting far worse. Had 10.5 months sober at 48 after rehab, relapsed then stopped at 49. I'm fifty now and have 16 months of sobriety. One day at a time. Took me a while.

I'm 24, I'm hoping this is it, I really think the next time would kill me. I've known I needed to stop completely for years though
I never had any 'rules' with alcohol, self imposed or otherwise, so I went downhill drinking round the clock pretty fast
Even I feel like a slow learner and wish I got it sooner. I guess that's how we all feel

Ruby I was waiting for, "Turned 49 and got pregnant again..."

I was 54.75 years old when I had my last drink. Talk about slow learners.
