Why!?!? Why would anyone have one drink?
Why!?!? Why would anyone have one drink?
Yesterday at Easter dinner my fiancée had one glass of red wine. To be more specific, she had less than one half a glass of red wine.
A small victory; instead of any nagging grief or jealousy or frustration or loss... What I thought was 'why on earth even bother having alcohol? What is less than half a glass of wine gonna do? NOTHING'.
I felt totally detached and sort of just found humor in it.
I really can't see why the heck anyone bothers to deep no alcohol apart from chasing that elusive feeling - and God knows that feeling never came from 'just one'...
Anyway, I count it a positive to have observed this thought and to have been totally free of any sense of 'missing out'.
And seriously -- even if we could have 'just one' - what would be the point???

Lol!! I don't get it either. I guess that's why we are here. I went to my significant other's family thing yesterday and you know how much I've battled with his excessive drinking during my recovery. The family is literally split in two. In one room was the one glass of wine people. In the other room was the excessive drinker people. I played board games with the kids and ate candy.

Haha I don't get it either Owl! My husband will drink a beer with dinner and that's it. I'm like, "really?!?". I don't think we will ever understand just like they may never fully understand "us". Our bodies are just different.
Have a great day!

I don't understand it either - ridiculous behaviour! I went past a country pub yesterday with the car park full and families inside eating Sunday lunch no doubt sipping a half a beer or a small glass of wine and then after the meal...................................I bet they had coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the point? Me I couldn't eat on an empty stomach and would have to have had several pints of aperitif before food looked even remotely attractive!
It's strange though - to be so aware of others drinking habits!

Yes, leaving an unfinished drink was something I could never fathom. Nor is the idea of one at all appealing. Why even bother? But that does set us apart. I happily spent Easter with my parents, brother and his family and there was not a drop of alcohol in sight. And I was happy with that.

Interesting you brought this up. I was at a friend's home for dinner and they had red wine. Perhaps foolishly I decided to have a glass. I could only drink half of it. I really don't know why. But I am glad that I was able to stop at half a glass.
Because she does not have a drinking problem and likely just wanted a taste.
I drank not even a half a glass of wine over the weekend. I thought I wanted it when offered, but I just did not feel like having anymore. It's not my addiction.
I have other issues believe me, but that is not one of them LOL.
