Yesterday or Today ? witch is it ?
cruising into day 4 here, lots of weird stuff going on, but i am not going to try and figure them out,i am just going to accept everything as it comes for now, it is very early in my journey, sleep was a bit better and sweating has almost gone, poured a cup a coffee this morning and there was no shaking, that felt nice for a change, that being said, here is the silly question to the title, a neighbor called this morning and asked me to meet him much later today to discuss something and he said the cocktails would be on him. i said i will meet you but i no longer drink, he said good for you,how long has it been, i said 4 days, he said that is great news and he quickly changed the meeting place to a local coffee shop, he also knows i drink way to much. the silly question that really has no importance is should i have said 3 or 4 days do you count the day your in ?
Hello Grizz,
I think it all depends on the person. I am 3 weeks and 1 day. I have been counting the days cause it helps me realize that it is one day at a time. As far as how you said it to the other gentleman, I think whatever you are comfortable with is fine. No two people in recovery are the same and what works for one might not appease another

You're not shackled to not drinking, you're free from drinking

I think a lot of us count the days. Especially early on. They do eventually start to run together. But it does feel good to see the progress and the accomplishment. Keep it going grizzley, and good for your friend to change the venue for your meeting.
Counting your days is a personal decision. I did early on as it defintely gave me a sense of accomplishment. Later on I decided to not count anymore as It's not that important to me now. Whatever works and feels best to you is what you should do!

I like to say the day that I"m working on because it provides an extra incentive not to drink. Having 3 days is the same thing as being on day 4, but 4 is 25% greater than 3. In the long run it wont matter, but early on this was useful for me.
