Funny all the talk, and psychology, and ways of not drinking

and the secret to be sober was to not drink. Mind blown, I didn't take a sip today, didn't have to worry about the shakes or anxiety or saying something stupid. All the recovery methods in the world and all the science and ideas and the bottom line is I didn't drink today. Its marvel thought to me, I think myself pragmatic and think and contemplative and at the end of the day all my research led to this man just not sipping that drink.

I am over simplifying it for sure, I know its not that easy, I know you need support and friends and family and SR and ETC to help. But I was truly confounded by the idea if you don't do it, it can't hurt you. I suppose that's the mind of an addict. The mind of someone that made plenty of excuses, the mind of someone who thought this would kill him and he isn't in control. Guess what, I am in control, I do make my own decisions, and I am no longer so oblivious to think that I am just a victim and not a part of the cause.

Good day to you all, enjoy the holiday weekend, Jeremy

One day at a time. Sometimes, it's one hour at a time or even one minute at a time. The longer you go without drinking, the easier it is and the more sense it makes. It's actually very simple, but it's not easy. Recovery is not a steady road. There will be bumps and potholes and times when you feel like giving up. DO NOT give up. Just keep plugging along.

I'm glad you are doing well, Jeremy.

For alcoholics, drinking is kind of like playing with snakes--if you don't pick one up you won't get bit.

it seems simple ey? but not all the time. Alcohol and the AV is cunning baffling and powerful, it is always lurking in the background waiting for our defences to be down, We all just need to be one step ahead of it

“You can stand anything for 10 seconds,” says Kimmy Schmidt. “Then you just start on a new 10 seconds.”

It realllllyyy is that simple. Don't drink and don't not drink alone - talk with other alcoholics daily.

Keep coming back!

Control is a slippery slope for me. I am in control until I have one drink. From that point on, no amount of self discipline has ever consistently worked for me.

I always heard that saying "Don't take the first drink", but I never really got it. Eight years later, I'm finally getting it (I hope). The first drink has gotten me everytime.

It's so simple: Just don't take the first drink!

Agree with you there. All the psychology of 'why am I drinking so oft' is a bit impervious to the fact.

It was truly a life changing moment that lasted for eternity but could have been any time or no time when I had the revelation (courtesy of AVRT website) I took the test, I'm still Feeling the ACE effect, the simplicity yet vastness of NEVER.
If I don't actually drink the alcohol then I don't drink alcohol. I always never drink alcohol.
Be well & seek expert advice

Driving my wagon of hope through beautiful views on my road to myself
