Day 4
Well, here I am at day 4.
Wednesday was the worst. Yesterday was too distracted to think much about it because I kept busy hiking, then rock climbing at the gym, then card games with friend.
I guess what I miss the most is the simple things, like having a beer with some tacos... or a glass of wine at night... but then I remind myself... "Who are you fooling... it was never JUST a beer... it was NEVER just a glass of wine".
other thing I have noticed... god, I get hungry so much more often... actually needing to eat 2-3 times a day instead of one is such a new experience... keep thinking... "Didn't I just eat this morning or last night?"

What I don't miss is... I had pretty much stopped thinking about living... It was zombie status... go to work, go home, start drinking, accommodate that blurry drunk feeling with music and TV that I didn't need to focus on, go to sleep.... repeat.
Starting to actually think about things I want to do.... starting to notice things and details around me that I haven't paid attention to in years... its like waking up. Comes slowly... but gets clearer and clearer the longer you keep your eyes open...
Nice job with 4 days!! I congratulate you as well. Eat, drink lots of water and have a replacement beverage in hand as often as possible. Just the replacement act of having a designated can to mouth helped me a lot. Sounds funny but it worked well. You are doing really well and keep going!

Usually bottle of soda water with a slice of lime in it here.
But came home with the wrong bottle....and have found that bottle of tonic water with a slice of lime in it is pretty good too....
I used to think about drinking endlessly- over time I thought about it less and less. There are a lot of associations we make with drinking- Now I am sober I have made new associations and now there are only a few situations that "remind" me of drinking-
