I could never cross 30 days, that was the milestone I couldn't achieve
Congratulations Jeremy. The truth is, no matter how long we've been sober, one drink does the same thing to every one of us. So no, there is no magic number... just today. Stick with today, don't drink today, and the rest will sort itself out in due course.
I am right there with ya at 33 days ... as Dee said on to 60! For me, this is usually when I get lazy and complacent with sobriety so this go round the goal is to be HYPER vigilant. We have to work for this everyday. Well done ... and keep on keepin on!
30 days is fantastic. I'd never gotten 30 days after years in AA, though I'd faked it a few times. When I finally did get my 30, I repeated to my congratulatory sponsor "No, you don't understand. I really do have 30 days! I'm not lying to you!"
30 turned into 60 and 60 turned into 90, etc. I celebrated 1 year of sobriety in February.
There's nothing magical about the days, but sobriety itself is better than I could have imagined and if you stay sober, you can experience what I and other have experienced. A sober life is a wonderful life.
Good job!

Thanks for sharing -- I can relate. I've been wanting to reach the 30 day mark for sooo long. Too long. And I keep falling on my face about two weeks in. What got you over the hump?
Does not counting days help? I'm scared to go back to meetings. I hear that's a common feeling but I'm desperate to quit drinking.
