Reasons to drink alcohol

Because I'm happy
Because I'm sad
Because I'm angry
Because I'm alone
Because I'm with friends

Because I'm listening to music
Because I'm at a club
Because I'm at a concert

Because I'm eating Italian
Or Mexican
Or pizza
Or a steak
Etc....

Because it's sunny
Because it's raining
Because it's snowing

Because I'm at a concert
Because I'm at the beach
Because I'm at a game

Because I need it to have fun
Because I need it to sleep
Because I need it to talk to others
Because I need it when alone
Because I need it when blue

Because I'm hungover
Because everyone is having one
Because I need it to be social
Because I won't get laid without one!

Because it makes me forget. (That is the only true one. It makes me forget at the price of destroying my brain.)

It's all ********. Excuses. Alcohol is a parasite, capable of attaching itself to everything.

Couldn't have said it any better. Alcohol = Parasite.

You CAN shake it off...but you have to stay vigilant. It lurks awaiting the chance to re-attach itself.

I'm glad to be sober today. Alcohol rules us no longer. Thanks for the reminder.

Yep, it lies in wait. Can't be complacent. I am guilty of that all the time, and it has continually bitten me in the rear.

It's easy to find a reason to drink, the trick is to find the reasons not to. :)

Yep. I can relate to every one of those. I drank every single day, no matter what.

There really aren't any, ScrewdUpinDe, just my AV talking. ANY thing can be made an excuse.

Literally me sooo many times: "I'm making dinner, this will be so much better once I'm drunk".

REASONS I WANT TO BE SOBER:

Because I'm happier sober
Because I'm sad the morning after I drink
Because I'm angry at my loved ones when I drink
Because I'm most alone with alcohol
Because I want to enjoy my real friends company without impairment

Because I'm listening to music
Because I'm at a club, and don't want drunk goggles
Because I'm at a concert to enjoy music not booze

Because I'm eating Italian
Or Mexican
Or pizza
Or a steak
Etc.... and I want to taste every bite

Because it's sunny
Because it's raining
Because it's snowing
...and being sober in any weather is better than being drunk out of my mind in the best of weather.

Because I'm at a concert
Because I'm at the beach
Because I'm at a game
...and there are more things to enjoy when I'm not passed out from all the shots I took

Because I need sobriety to have fun
Because I need sobriety to sleep deeply
Because I need sobriety to truely get to know others
Because I need sobriety when alone, because being the drunk is lonelier
Because I need sobriety when blue, purple, pink, yellow... because no matter what, I need my sobriety

Because being hungover sucks
Because everyone else is able to handle their liquor and I cannot
Because I need it to be social
Because I won't remember getting laid without it

Because I want to remember my life

This is all the truth. Reasons. Alcohol is a parasite, capable of attaching itself to everything, and it sucks the living out of life.

I had been realising my excuses for drinking were so varied and all encompassing, it is pathetic really. Like a child nagging until it gets it's way inside my head. I am glad to be in control now. It is a great feeling. Thanks for posting. We need these reminders
