The power of prayer

I am religious but you don't have to be to pray. You can pray to any object or living thing. I choose to pray to the big man upstairs. Praying has really helped me get things off my chest when I can't explain to others what I am thinking. It also helps me have a few goals in life, to think about everyday. Example, to stay sober no matter what, to have the courage to do the things I need to do to stay sober, etc. I have found that repeating these and other things that I want to pray about everyday has helped me not worry about them so much. For example, my mother. I have a tricky relationship with her and her drinking and pray about it everyday. It has really helped me let go of it. Just a thought. Happy Monday!

I strongly believe in the power of prayer!
God is my strength when I have no strength left in me!

God is not my strength... but I still pray every morning. Why? Because a guy who was sober and didn't sound like they were trying to recruit me to Jesus Camp said that it was the #1 thing that worked to get him sober.

I pray every morning, whenever I'm thinking about a drink, and whenever my thinking feels screwed. It goes like this "(3rd step prayer. I dunno why). Please relieve me of the urge and obsession to drink. Please, above all else, keep me sober. Guide my thinking and action. Thy will not mine be done." That's it. Every day. If I remember to, I say "thanks" as I fall asleep sober every night.

If I pray to something, it's whatever the thing is that got my prayer evangelizing friend sober. It really helped me get sober.

I'm a terrible atheist.
So, yeah, I believe in the power of prayer.
