Another way to see it....
Another way to see it....
Something I've found really helpful in sobriety is shifting my focus from 'I can't drink' to 'I don't want to drink'.
One phrase that helps me lead that shift is:
'Alcohol is incompatible with the life I want to live'
One exercise that is helpful in guiding the shift is to make a list from time to time of the ways in which this statement is true for me.....
Like:
I prefer to be fully present in my experiences
I love to see the sunrise with a clear head and a strong body
My most meaningful moments have not been about alcohol
Feel free to try it, if you'd like.

When I finally "got it" someone wrote: "I no longer cling to abstinence. I embrace sobriety." Massive turning point in my recovery.
Thanks for another insightful, helpful post, Owl.
