Climbing out of the darkness...

I have 1 week of sobriety today!

1 week ago I drank enough to poison myself. Literally! I vomited. I got thrown out of a bar. I passed out. I woke up the next day feeling like I was dying. I was so depressed all I could think about was suicide for 3 days after. It was one of the darkest couple of days of my life.

I made a decision. I am DONE! I had 5 1/2 years once....I can do it again!

I know I have a LONG way to go and I will NEVER get too confident. I need to ALWAYS put my sobriety first and be vigilant...one day at a time.

Thanks for all of your support a week ago when I was in my darkest hour.

Love you guys! ONWARD!

Hi and welcome back.

There is not much wrong with confidence as long as we keep REMEMBER WHEN close to the front of our thinking. With your sober time you should remember the drill which often starts with “the first drink gets us drunk.”

Yes it’s work in the beginning but gets easier with that 4 letter word, time. I was encouraged with “KEEP COMING” EVEN IF I DIDN’T WANT TO.

The long term results can’t be purchased but worked for : being comfortable in my own skin.

Good enough for me.

BE WELL

Thanks for this post, Serenidad. Your story is familiar to me. I've had so many experiences like that. The post-drunk depression is very difficult.

You're awesome.

Yes! It's definitely the FIRST drink that gets me drunk! I never want to forget that!

Thanks everyone for you well wishes!

Are you going to do inpatient or outpatient? I know you were looking into it.

I have one week of sobriety today with the help of SR, AA, a sponsor, the 12 steps, prayer, meditation and a counselor. I am not planning to do treatment at this point. What I am doing is working. Thanks for asking! :-)

Good job serenidad. You are doing great.
Your right about making sobriety the priority in your life. I had many years once also, and it really doesn't matter except that I know sobriety is possible. When I was sober before was a different chapter of my life. I never take being sober for granted now....I'm not going to get complacent this time and I will be wary of the people I hang out with.
