"I've heard some people have a phobia about the holes in the white part of bacon." - that'd be swiss bacon

*shudders at Lbrains suggestion with cotton balls in mouth*
Speaking of Judy Collins, listening to her wouldn't be my cup of tea either. She was out here awhile back. For whatever reason, songs with Phil Collins drives me up the wall too. Maybe it's something about the last name, "collins" to where listening to them should be classified as being some weird form of torture.
Della-had no idea you have the cotton ball too. *shudders thinking about hearing them*
Olive-there are times the squeaking on the court has got to me too.
I found this on bacon wiki. Considering so many of us like bacon and ice-cream, this may be worth trying to see if it works.
Bacon ice cream
Makes about ¾ qt (¾l)
5 strips bacon
2 teaspoons light brown sugar
3 tablespoons (45g) salted butter
¾ cup (packed) brown sugar (140g)
2¾ (675ml) cup half-and-half
5 large egg yolks
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
To candy the bacon, preheat the oven to 400F (200C).
Lay the strips of bacon on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat or aluminum foil, shiny side down.
Sprinkle 1½-2 teaspoons of brown sugar evenly over each strip of bacon, depending on length.
Bake for 12-16 minutes. Midway during baking, flip the bacon strips over and drag them through the dark, syrupy liquid that’s collected on the baking sheet. Continue to bake until as dark as mahogany. Remove from oven and cool the strips on a wire rack.
Once crisp and cool, chop into little pieces. (Bacon Bits can be stored in an airtight container and chilled for a day or so, or stored in the freezer a few weeks ahead.)
To make the ice cream custard, melt the butter in a heavy, medium-size saucepan. Stir in the brown sugar and half of the half-and-half. Pour the remaining half-and-half into a bowl set in an ice bath and set a mesh strainer over the top.
In a separate bowl, stir together the egg yolks, then gradually add some of the warm brown sugar mixture to them, whisking the yolks constantly as you pour. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan.
Cook over low to moderate heat, constantly stirring and scraping the bottom with a heatproof spatula, until the custard thickens enough to coat the spatula.
Strain the custard into the half-and-half, stirring over the ice bath, until cool. Add vanilla.
Refrigerate the mixture. Once thoroughly chilled, freeze in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Add the bacon bits during the last moment of churning or stir them in when you remove the ice cream from the machine.

I will have some ice cream instead. Wish it was bacon ice cream, but just vanilla in the house.
Well, I lost a year off my life watching that Wisconsin vs. UNC game, but it was worth it! Jeeezus, what a nail-biter. Going to stick around for a bit of the late games as I am on US Mountain Time here. Off to bed in a bit, if I can get my heart-rate to slow down after watching those last few minutes of the game.
Tetra - good for you! Keep the faith, keep up the good work. Funny to hear about those bin replacements, jeez it sounds like red-tape madness over there. LOL. Good luck!
I don't have a fear of cotton balls, but one thing that bothers me is drinking out of a styrofoam cup. For some reason, every time I take a sip of hot coffee out of a styrofoam cup, my TEETH hurt so bad! It's so strange and baffling, I'd like to know why that is. They serve (bad) coffee out of them on airplanes. I tried again last weekend and was so petrified to drink out of that cup that I was winced every time I got the cup to my lips. What is that? Anyone else?
