My trashed friend -

Just got off a phone with my friend.
He was slurring, talking about silly things etc.
He mentioned having multiple substances - including beer.
After I hung up I realized that I never noticed this from him cause I was cocked when I called him in the past.

Funny how I was trying to hold an actual conversation and he was just making no sense....being an idiot really.
I realized how many "trashed" conversations we have had in the past and how little they really yielded.
Sobriety is so cool.

I've noticed the exact same thing with drunken friends on the phone.
After being sober for awhile, I find it a little bit sad.

I find it very hard to talk on the phone to people that are drunk also....
I have a sister that always waits until she is loaded and then calls, repeats herself constantly and giggles for no reason.

It is a bit annoying, but since I love her, I try to put up with it.
BUT some days I just look at the caller ID, and don't pick up the phone!

Seeing and hearing drunk people has been good motivation to stay sober. To think I used to bee like that myself!! Not a pretty picture.

This reminds me of the countless nights spent doing blow by myself and dialing friends.

On reflection... It was pure loneliness and despair. Get drugged up by yourself and call people at all hours.

Could there be a more obvious sign of loneliness and isolation?

I live in Australia my family in Holland every Friday night I would call them drunk (Friday morning/noon there)
Only a few times (twice maybe) my sister noticed I'd been drinking. Mum told me she never niticed it only when she's d hear me sipping from my beer glass. That was towArds the end.
My Dutch mate saw me drinking bucket loads on newyears eve on the webcam last new years eve. It shockedhim 4 an hour he told me.

I cannot recall any of the conversations at all totally black outs for me.
Feel really bad about it but mum has forgiven me so has my sister.
They are a god's send!

Yes, sobriety can really change your perspective on things.
