Drank Sat night

Yes. I really did. after 85 days sober.
I bought a six and drank it.
THAT WAS THE BEST way (as it turns out) to seal the deal on lifelong sobriety for me.
WHY?
Because a few beers in I felt like, THIS is what Im "missing"?
This is all you got Alcohol??
I thought and felt - "I cant wait to sober up- I no longer LIKE this feeling.
Its no longer who I am !!!
So...I "romanced" the buzz, obtained it ....Turns out (for me) The AV will have little if any power after remembering Sat night.
And can say NOW Im perfectly convinced I will never drink again.
For me- I learn best like this at times.
-----
Im no longer concerned with "days sober" - dont care
I KNOW I will never drink again- so to me its ok now
Im free.

Hi livingnow

so valuable to hear this from someone else. The last several times I have drunk it has been so disappointing - but I forget so quickly!!!
Thanks for sharing - from someone who is in the early days of sobriety and needs this kind of help. I like your positive attitude and renewed certainty.
best to you

Living, I felt that way my last time out too. I'd had 3 yrs. sober & have no idea why I decided to ruin my progress. In my case it was the last time I drank. I have 7+ yrs. now. I hope it works out for you - sometimes we need further proof that we are done with it. You're right, there's nothing in it for us - just misery and disappointment.

I'm always concerned when I read that someone has gone back out, especially of late, where people have posted, with just as much assurance as you, that it was a "one time deal," only to be sucked back into the drinking whirlpool.

You came to the realization a "few" beers in, but drank the entire six? That's how alcohol works. Insidiously.

I hope your epiphany carries you through to lifelong sobriety, because the risks of returning to drinking are just too great.

Oh I know your not...I know you well enough.
I was gonna do it regardless of posting or anyone heres "dont do it" etc.
That said- This is the "after post "and I REALLY have something Ive never had before. The Mind set that drinking is behind me now. Its such a waste!
