Great post !
I'm wondering something and you might have the answer. I quit smoking 7 years and 9 months ago. Never ever! Think about having a smoke never. I have tried a puf a couple of times to show myself I hate it and indeed i nearly vomitted both times. I'm healed forgood! I can say this with 1000% cobfidence!
Best ever thing I had done in my life was quit.
64 days sover now. I had a great experience when being at a wedding getting exposed to alcohol. Did not feel like it at all. Also thanks to meds of course.
Q: will this not drinking become a similar thing as the not smoking ?
Cos that'll be cool.
When i was at that wedding exposed to grog for the furst time since detox the smell of alcohol grossed me out so much.
Must be on the right way.
Q2: how are you expwriencing sobriety now does the smell also gross you out?

I'll admit, at first it really did feel like choosing between the lesser of two evils. I was NOT excited about giving up alcohol.

By the time I stopped though, the choice was easy. I could NOT take one more hangover. There really wasn't a choice anymore.

Sobriety is about opening doors not closing them.

In the very beginning I figured I could be miserable drunk and hungover or miserable sober. Let me tell you though the misery faded quickly. It's like your whole body comes to life again.

Exactly! It was such a surprise to find myself feeling better and better.

Pink, its a really positive sign that you weren't tempted at the wedding. It was only after I had the relapse that I realised alcohol was doing absolutely nothing for me. That little safe bubble where it used to take me to, where all my problems just disappeared even for a little while - it just wasn't there any more. I was drinking and feeling even more miserable as a result!

For a long time I struggled with the idea that some how I was being deprived by not being able to drink. But that has faded. Recently both the smell of drink and being around people who have had far too much is pretty liberating. So glad I don't need to do that any more. Good luck to you
