Hi Sela,
Welcome to SR! Well, what I did initially was share my hopes and fears with the community and considered the feedback. What I would suggest is a lot of posting and reading throughout the site. Whatever you are experiencing right now, you are not alone.
What is going on right now in your life, Sela?
And welcome to you ABE70, as well!

I have been here about 4 days and have the same goal as you. I wish you the best. So far I have had a lot of good conversations in the chat room. You are not alone here and people will understand your struggles.
Welcome to our newcomers. The first thing to do is to put down the bottle. Don't pick up that first drink, no matter what! Second would be to get support. Here or in some sobriety program like AA or AVRT.

Hi and Welcome everyone,
Least has good pointS. Steps are usually as follow
- Get sober by detoxing safely, speak to your doctor
- Inpatient and outpatient are options for detox and treatment
- Find support like SR, AA, AVRT, SMART recovery groups
- find support in your family and friends
- Make a list of why you want to stop, optional but helpful
- You might need counselling to identify possible underlying mental health issues
Never pickup the first drink, even if you feel better physically and think one won't hurt.
Mumbling here, some will add some good stuff I'm sure
Rock on!

Read around post as much as you like - learn more about the various approaches many of us use...then pick the one you like the sound of most
That's a good first step

Welcome to SR!!!
I'd never been part of a forum when I found SR, didn't have a clue about how it worked. I read, a LOT, went through various forums, posted some and found out that we all have a lot in common.
I'm really glad you are here!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
