I'm giving it a go...

First saturday in a long time I've decided not to drink. Just not going to do it. I am bored, I am crabby, but I am sober. I need to learn to get through this, its a habit that needs to change. I am a very structured person, so once I get through a few sober Saturdays, I think my new schedule will kick in and I will be fine. Early on, I can report, it sucks.

I hear you! :-)
I have gone (over several years) from every day to 3 days a week, to Friday and Saturday, to Saturdays only and now I am trying to ditch it.
Part of me wants to go out tonight. I just have to keep reminding myself that, i haven't actually been enjoying it very much on the night - and not at all in the morning after!

Best of luck to you and keep up the good work!

Sounds like a really good decision, you can do this!
And yeah there is some outright suckiness in the early goings, but to be expected, yes?
Wish you well

Congratulations Thomas! It is tough like you said, but very rewarding. All of a sudden you'll notice all of this extra time you have too from not drinking, being hungover, etc which is a huge benefit. I hope you have a great Saturday!

Expect right around 9pm to get a horrible craving. Make it past that and you have Sunday made. I recommend keeping your house booze free for a while.

I hear you. It is so hard in the beginning.

We are walking beside you, Jeff. No matter where we are on our sober journeys, we are on the same path and in this together.

Hi, things are going well. One week ago today I was feeling the effects of too much booze on saturday. Today I feel good and I like it.

While staying sober, my brain actually feels like works properly. I'm inching closer to complete sobriety.
