Walking in sobriety
Walking in sobriety
When I was early in recovery I would walk my dogs when I had cravings to drink. They got a lot of walks for a while there. Since then, I've discovered the value of walking. I walk my dogs every day, at least once, in good weather. This past winter was hard on us as we rarely got to walk.
Now that the weather is getting better, we're walking usually twice and sometimes three times a day. The difference in my mood is AMAZING!!
I sleep better, smile more, and feel all around better for it. I'm being good to my dogs and myself with our daily walks.
Try walking in sobriety. It's free and it works for me!

Yes, Yes and Yes!
I walk as often as possible and love it. There are so many benefits. I feel closer to my community, I chat with neighbors, I walk with my husband and we really talk, I feel stronger and healthier and it helps get me outside my head. Like you, this winter was dreadful for walking but the last couple of weeks have been much better.

I do get out at least twice a day to walk my dog, but as the weather is so cold still we walk really fast and not very far. I'm looking forward to the longer walks around the neighborhood....my sobriety is looking forward to it too!
And walking is free. No cost or gym to join. Just a good pair of shoes.
Oh the dogs are in heaven when we walk. My little Chihuahua gets so excited when I ask them if they want to "go for a walk". She touches the leash with her nose when I ask her that.
The benefits to all of us are so great. I'm getting to know a lot of my neighbors and know most of the dog walkers in the area.
Walking really rocks!
