Here it is 5:30. I am so numb. So far, I've no urge to drink. What would be the point? It won't bring her back. She gave me almost 10 wonderful years. I was the first one to hold her when she drew her first breath and the last one to hold her she drew her last.

I hope you don't mind if I post off and on throughout the evening.

Thanks.

My heart goes out to you and your beloved pup. I just had to do the same thing a month ago and was not strong enough and relapsed. It was not worth it. I spiraled into a very dark place and the alcohol only exacerbated those feelings. I drank to numb the pain but all it did was make it worse. Don't be fooled that you will somehow feel better by drinking. Honor your dog by taking care of yourself for surely that's all our animals want for us. You were kind to give your parents a final goodbye ... now be kind to yourself.

I remember your post Chuck and I felt really bad for you because I knew exactly what you were feeling and are still feeling. It hurts so much it aches. I am glad to read you are sober again. PM any time you want to talk about your dog - I will always understand.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend, Calico. She knew she was loved, from her first breath to her last.

Stay close to us here, if you need it. Drinking would definitely make it much harder on you. ((hug))
