Gonna post through this if you don't mind
Quit drinking
Call your doctor
Go to an AA meeting
Call your local Alcohol/Drug Rehab center
Call the AA hotline
Those are some things you could do today, right now. Nothing really matters at this point other than stopping by any means so you can start working on other things, but right now you just need to stop.

Dave - as Scott said there's any number of things you could do right now.
The idea you have to 'let this run its course' is absolute nonsense.
The longer you let yourself get carried down stream, the harder it's going to be for you to get back to where you want to be.

I'm staying in at least and posting here instead of going out and getting in any real trouble. Besides irritating all of you. Oh once a switch is flipped it's not really up to me anymore. I was stupid and played with fire and got burned. There's nothing on earth that will stop this now until I burn out in a few days. I get bad guys. Once it gets me it gets me.
The consequences could be FAR worse than you can fathom Dave.
What do you seek from us then? You won't find support or approval for you plan to just keep drinking until you burn out. If you can't quit for yourself, think of how colossally selfish you are being to your wife and family. Their patience with you is not eternal.

I'm personally struggling also, but have read enough on SR to know how the story ends. So do you and I'm sure both of us want a different ending. Not implying it's easy, only that it's necessary. Use all the resources at your disposal.

No, do not do that. You were only asked a legitimate question. Everyone who is posting here is doing so to help and support you regardless of where we personally are in our relationship with alcohol.
