Oner Year Ago Today
I don't know Fly. Paddy O'Furniture? Ever here of a potato clock?
Paddy goes into a John Lewis department store and asks the shopkeeper, "Excuse me sir, but do you sell potato clocks?"
The shopkeeper looks at him and says, "Are you taking the ****? (rhymes with hiss) We sell cuckoo clocks, carriage clocks, grandfather clocks, alarm clocks... what the feck is a potato clock?"
And Paddy says, "I don't know, but I start my new job at nine tomorrow, and the wife said 'You'd better get a potato clock.'"

thanks all, to be sure, I celebrated a year sober in December, same day as FreeOwl.
today is my year anniversary on SR.
and Patman, Ottawa beat the Flyers the other night. But they are coming to Philly last week of season. Maybe the flyboys can end the season 500 or better, maybe.

Antiques Roadshow appraised a 1935 Martin D-18 last night. Well played, but in very good condition w/original Case. Only ~$25k. Stick with dem affordable Mandolins.
All the best, Senor, on your totally bitchen Achievement!

Hey Brain,
When I first came here to SR and was scared s%^tless I used to sit and snicker at your posts. Inevitably you would put your foot in your mouth or write something obtuse-ish, thus providing continual newbie entertainment. You speak your mind (even if that mind of yours could use a really good car wash), say your piece, share your experience, support and just keep showing up. You are an original.
Congrats on one year. SR would not be the same without you. A sober Brain is a good Brain. Glad we get to know you as you are.
A few comments:
1) I would put money on the fact that your wife is a fuzzy wuzzy teddy bear in real life and not how you, LBrain, portray her weekend after weekend in Weasel's Weekend Thread.
2) That Brain avatar that looked like a strange jello mould? Glad that one is gone.
3) Thanks to your inspiration I have been alcohol as well as nicotine free for the last month and for the first time since I was a scrappy 14 year-old. I thought to myself, "Huh. Brain gave nicotine freedom a whirl and so can I!" Feels pretty good.
4) Thanks for your support and kind words since you have been here. Thanks for sharing your r.e.a.l. journey. It is powerful and impressive stuff.

Thank you for this post and for your support. Really, that's how I feel about being here.
My dad combs antique stores and garage sales looking for the grails of guitars. Hasn't hit the jackpot yet but there's always hope, right?

Thank you for sharing, LBrain.
I'm grateful that you, Ladybug and Emmsie took the time today to post on the Newcomers Forum. It's been a great day for sobriety anniversaries and it's important for newcomers to see the fruits of your efforts.
It is doable!
