Lá Fhéile Pádraig shona daoibh!

Greetings my fellow SR friends,

On the eve of St Patrick's day, I just wanted to share some of my thoughts at this time of year. I'm over 70 days sober and have been supported immensly by the resources of this site and the connections I have made. I am extremely grateful, especially to my weekender friends.

This will be my first sober St Patricks as an adult. I have escaped to a cottage in the mountains with my SO for a few days to mark the occasion. I am revelling in forest walks, good food, burning turf on the fire, and sobriety.

This time of year can magnify the cultural stereotype of the drunken Irish - a stereotype I have personally perpetuated for much of my adult life, but I am now working very hard to change.

Instead my SR friends, I would like to celebrate the more positive aspects of Ireland: the people, culture, and landscape. May I wish you all a sober St Patrick's day!

:You_Rock_

My best wishes,

B

PS This is my first ever thread! :) Also, my internet connection here is intermittent!

Woo HOOOOO!!!!

70 Days... and making some brilliant choices on how to manage some monumental influences. That's some very inspiring stuff Behan. I could not be more genuinely happy for you than I am.

Hmmm... got over 100 posts... started a new thread... hey! How about posting your first pic? What does the woods there look like? (besides a bunch of trees! :D) LOL Just kidding!!!

ENJOY!
