Try to find something to take your mind off drinking even for just a few minutes. Hang in there and remember 80 days sober is awesome. Don't give it up.

I slipped this weekend after 73 days. You'll hate yourself for it.

remember that last thread livingnow

No matter how much of a ruckus the AV makes, you can choose not to engage with it.

You're the boss, not the AV. It's like the toddler having a tantrum. You're the adult

If you haven't seen these there are some great tips here:

Have you eaten?

Good on you for coming here instead of turning your AV's wishes into action.

Great job on 80+ days! Don't set yourself back, man.

I give myself brownies whenever AV is going crazy and it does help. Others eat ice cream when having cravings.

Try eating something out having a nap to take your mind off it.

Can you put yourself in a position where you physically can't drink?

Edit -- oh.. Well done

Livingnow - I just read this & was so happy to get to the end and see you turned the corner - without drinking. That's how it's done. Proud of you for posting about what was going on and being honest.

Do something else tonight! Go for a walk if it's nice out. Go get yourself ice cream! You don't want the AGONY of starting over!!!!

Go out and buy some muffins instead. I really works. I happen to like corn muffins. There are so many choices. I like blueberry muffins too.

Livingnow, congrats on posting on SR rather than actually drinking! I haven't experienced this yet, but I know I've read posts from some on here who have been sober for years who have said that their AV is practically silent. I don't know when that will happen, but I know we won't get there if we give in!

You should be proud that you fought the urge and posted on SR. I hope when I am 80+ days sober, I will do the same

Sit...quietly...calmly...fold your hands in your lap...and repeat after me...

"AIN'T NO DAMN WAY I'AMA GONNA LET THAT AV (SOB) MAKE ME DRINK AGAIN !!!...
JUST AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN" !!!!!

...and then just calmly, quietly, ride it out...all the way to the beach.

The AV settles down when it realizes that nothing it can do or say has any effect on your sobriety. When you decide to quit forever, and close the door on it, lock it and melt the key, it quietens right down.
