Cant sleep

I went all the way to 11:22 pm and couldn't get to sleep. I took sleep meds, didn't work. I finally cracked and got out of bed and went to the store and bought wine. It put me to sleep, I got about 4 hours of sleep. Exhausted today and irritated. I'm back to day one AGAIN. Going to the store after work today and going to get a load of sleeping remedies. I will use as much as needed. Enough is enough. So tired of having insomnia. I don't want to drink anymore. I'm going to go to bed early and use a load of meds to get to sleep. Whatever it takes.

Insomnia is common for many in early recovery. The solution? Staying sober. Because drinking doesn't just reset your "Days sober" count. It resets your body back to the withdrawal stage and the insomnia that accompanies it.

I know that insomnia is a pain. But you have to get through it, without drinking, to get on with your recovery.

hi there

even a one-off session after weeks of sobriety will screw up my sleep for several nights.
after about 2 weeks of abstinence i tend to sleep great - but i am fortunate not to suffer insomnia unless, in my case it is self induced. Best wishes to you and hope that you resolve it.

I found that after a couple of weeks the sleep was beginning to even out a bit, and by 3 weeks I was getting some really good sleep, after 6 weeks I am sleeping hard as a rock..

sleeplessness is annoying and discomforting, but getting past it is SOOO WORTH IT! you will sleep better, think better, feel better....

You can make it past this , just don't let it become bigger than staying sober.

I'm pulling for you!!!

Sleeping is difficult and i'm in the same boat as you Embrace - I get a few hours sleep na night if i'm luxcky.

But those few hours are better than 8-9 when I've been drinking

I really understand the frustration of insomnia, but what you are planning to do sounds like it could be dangerous.

I know insomnia is wearying and frustrating but if you're really at your wits end, why not see a Dr and get some expert advice instead?
