Paying my dues
Re: "now I am here to try not to die..."
We're all going to die, but there's a vast difference between dying the horrific death of an alcoholic and eventually dying with the calm knowledge that we've made peace with others and with ourselves...
I also got sober to "try not to die." I've found many more gifts, & am really happy inside my sobriety. Even if I die tomorrow, I value this time immensely & would never take it back.
Sobriety rocks!

Far from being "hey here's my life story please feel sorry for me"...
I was a singer for a "big" (so they say) rock band in the early 80s.
The key word is...I WAS. The 80s have long gone and it has taken me this long to accept this.
Simply put, I did too much drugs and too much drink for almost 20 years. Now I am here to try not to die.
The end.

I was a musician too. Never big but nevertheless I burned my bridges too...but we're both still here...
Never to late to write a new ending to the story anon
