Hi all,
I figured I'd just quickly introduce myself and occasionally post when I feel like my input would be of some value! I'm a 24 year old alcoholic, and so far I've been quit for just over 24 hours. I would usually drink 5-8 beers a day for about 3 years. It started straining a lot of my relationships with people and I started missing more work on days after a night of especially heavy drinking. My family has an extensive history of alcohol abuse. I was in denial for a long time and I'm happy to now realize I'm an alcoholic! I'm determined to quit.
That's about it for now, thanks for being around for support! I've been lurking these forums for a while reading other posts and figured I should come out of hiding

I am new to admitting that I am an alcoholic. thank you for posting this. I feel less alone. slipped up AGAIN last night after talking myself into one beer. I even looked. at the sky and said, welp here we go, as I took my first sip. I'm powerless to alcohol. God bless you and stay strong.
Nice to meet you, good luck on day 2 and beyond. It is good that you figured out what you did at an early age so you don't waste anymore years.
I had a problem with missing work as well but because I am self employed I did not quit until my health started to deteriorate.

Hey Lovecraft!
I'm on my first 24 hours as well. I've been a 2 bottles of wine a night girl for the past 10 years and have destroyed many aspects of my life as a result.
I'm also new to the forum, keep in touch. We can do this.
