Wanted to introduce myself
I've been visiting/reading this site every single day for months and everyone who posts has been a huge help to me in maintaining my sobriety. I am so thankful for this place...I no longer feel alone in this journey. I've been sober for 3 months now.
I quit drinking 4 years ago for almost a year and thought it would be a good idea to "reward" myself with a beer. Well, we all know how that worked out. I know that I can never touch another drop of alcohol again. It's funny; I don't have the desire to drink anymore considering that alcohol was a part of my life for almost 3 decades.
The last time I quit I was so energetic...I joined a gym, took up running, tried new things, went places, etc.
This time is so different for some reason. I just can't seem to get motivated to do anything besides the day/day stuff (work, cooking, etc). I WANT to do things and meet new people but I can't seem to get moving. I'm afraid that I'm isolating myself and wasting precious time when I should be out experiencing life. Help!

Welcome.
Don't wait until you feel motivated. Just do it, even if you don't feel like it.
Early recovery is sort of like physical therapy. You have to push yourself. If you get your knee replaced, they have you using it pretty fast...they don't wait for your knee to feel good. Same with the discomfort of early recovery, you have to push through it to feel good.

Welcome, lakeofglitter, to SR and congratulations on three sober months.
I understand the lack of motivation. Your body is healing; start slow and easy - your motivation and energy will return in time.
Glad you found SR.
