New to site & trying to suss it out

I'm new to the site so just wanted to say hi to you all, hope you are all well & life is treating you good.
I'm here as someone in recovery, after drink has changed my life for ever, being diagnosed with chronic cirrhosis at the age of 25 & told my liver was beyond the point of repair.
Im in recovery not only from alcohol but a heroin & crack addiction. I moved away from my home area to start a new but I've had trouble finding new friends due to being a single mum & not getting out.

Welcome Kel!

This is a great sober place to hang out. Read around and post often!

Hello and welcome!

It is tricky to make new friends as an adult, specially in a new place. I commend you for moving and having a refreshing new start. I would suggest that you take your kid to the library, park maybe enroll them in a class. Volunteering is also a good way to meet new people.

You have great incentives to change, your child and your liver and as hard as it is, it's really simple. Don't pick up that first drink, or hit... This place is a great resource. Read around and post when you need to or want to. I have learned so much about recovery, self-help and alcohol that it has really empowered me to make the change.

Hope to see you around.

Thanks for the replies
I haven't found any support local, I do a couple of online meetings, it's difficult just being me & my son, I haven't found a child minder yet who I trust & can cope with my sons needs, he has additional needs & can be a real handful.
Now he's started school I'm looking for a local daytime meeting I can try.
Glad to have found this site, I really didn't expect so many replies so soon. Thanks for making me feel welcome
