For the price of one drink...

...my daughter and I can no longer play Frozen monopoly.
...I don't ever have to volunteer at the raptor center ever again.
...I can drive home only looking in the rear view mirror wondering if the car behind me is a cop
...I can quit school and forget my dreams of bettering my life, and not care about doing it.
...I don't have to take my daughter rollerskating again. I can nurture my hangover instead.
...I can think the world is out to get me
...I can hate myself again

Think about what you have gained in your journey, no matter how short or long you have been sober. One drink reopens those wounds in your brain. It doesn't matter if you consider yourself an alcoholic or problem drinker. It is poison. It taste foul. It does not help you relax. You don't need it to survive. It doesn't enhance anything. Some people think it makes them more social and outgoing. Maybe you weren't meant to be that way, and that is ok.

You can't get drunk if you don't pick up that first drink. Have a safe, productive, fun and sober weekend!

Thanks countrygirl. Yes one drink is all it takes to reopen those wounds. No more for me.

Thanks CountryGirl,
My wife and Daughter and a friend of hers recently went to Atlanta to see the Play Wicked, for her Birthday. That was only possible because of my Sobriety. The simple things I can now do in Life, and in the life of those around me, are WONDERFUL blessings that I stole from myself when I was living my Life on Self-Will-Run-Riot.

For me, I KNOW that the only way I stay Sober, is by continuing to maintain the Spiritual Condition that happened while working the 12 Steps of AA. And it is a Wonderful way of Life, even in the midst of the storms of Life, and even in the Dark Nights of the Soul that my Life seems to get tangled in.

So thanks, CountryGirl for the reminder of what Sobriety is doing for GOOD in my Life.
