Talking Hold On! Sober Weekender Thread March 6-8

Wow... What a week for me. High highs and low lows. A bit of self loathing to may-bee this guys not so bad.

Hold on tight! Getting sober legs can be quite a ride. No matter how far we go from the bottle or DOC we have moments instability. Getting to the point of "enough" is chaotic for most of us.

That's why the weekender is here. A place to take hold for a weekend and talk about how to normalize our extended free time.

*Ring Ring*

“The first bell is the bell of mindfulness, calling to me and you.

It says stop what am i doing right now, take some breaths, feel my body, am I holding it tight and tense? Relax… calm down… life is a journey and not a destination, make the journey as glorious as possible.

The second bell is the freedom bell and I'm ringing it for you to let you know freedom from drink and drugs is available to you, come and hear us calling out to you.” ~ Mecanix

Welcome to your sober weekend!!!

shotgun anyway
just finished brekky, 2 eggs, 4 strips of thick bacon, 2 toast and coffee. heading out to clear some snow. It rained all afternoon and then the snow finally came late last night - so it is icy underneath the snow. And I'm on a hill.
Verte is on the bus this weekend? Should be a fun trip. Hope you brought your galoshes.

Yes, Brain. Happy to be here. Galoshes. Are you suggesting that I am FOS? Or is it snowing again and getting all mushy in your part of the world?

Good Morning Weasey....(before I get an email asking me why I haven't been around).

Another snow day here, I could SCREAM....however the dog likes it.

a week full of stress for me this week, I had to take my oldest cat to the vet for the last time. He would have been 21 in May and I could not put it off anymore. I hated to do it, but I am glad I made the decision to let him go before both he and the weather got worse. and I only burned a pizza over it, not drank.

I have been sleeping much better, less stress, taking care of business and taxes, paying the bills and looking forward to flipping SPRING!!! where is it? we are in the middle of a 9 inch snowfall today, I really could scream, but then I would scare the neighbors.

I'm in. I'm about ready to have a meltdown so this came up at just the right time. I'm so tired of being so cold all the time. I think it's been above the freezing mark once in two months. A high of twenty today with wind chill of eight below. I'm a knot of frustration and anger. A mad polar bear. Or at least I look like it with all these flipping layers of coats and wool.

Fandy I'm so sorry about your cat. It's so hard to let go and say goodbye. Twenty years old though. He's had a long life.

I'm glad to see everyone here. Thanks Weasel for getting us started. I'm going to take your suggestion and breathe and relax the shoulders.

I'm here! On a Thursday! On the first page of the Weekenders topic! Going with the flow, letting go of things beyond my control.

It is SUCH a relief being stuck at home during a snow storm and not having to worry about running out of liquor... Last year would have been a very different miserable story. Ring-ring! FREEDOM!!!

Sorry about your cat, Fandy.

Breathe, Ruby! Can you take a hot bath and try to relax? Put on a movie for the kids and take some time to warm up and take deep breaths.

Hi folks,

Fandy, sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved pet. Thoughts are with ya.

Ruby, I have been checking the Chicago weather and have seen some February cold records were close to being set. I remember at this time last year I was climbing the walls and the cold weather forcing me to be inside all the time caused a lot of pain.

This year I've felt a lot better being in a climate where I can be outside every day of the year. Speaking of, I believe I've talked about working on my rooftop garden from time to time. It's been a great hobby to keep me busy on weekends, and has proven to be a peaceful respite. It's been fun to have a 'project' I can keep working on, build slowly, piece by piece. Been an important link in my sobriety and transition. Anyway, without further adieu I figured I'd show it off! Nothing spectacular, but I know some of you need a dose of warm weather. 80F/26C and sunny today yet again.

971 Days Sober and counting. One at a time.
