First good meeting

It wasn't my first meeting last night. Probably my fifth over the last 5 years.
My therapist has been nudging me to go so I occasionally do.
Never really connected until last night.
Last night I learned, and was inspired, by the different people sharing. THAT was a new experience. I'm going again tonight. Different meeting and different group but it will be a lot easier to go after last night.

Just thought I'd share that with the folks on the board.

It took me a while before meetings started making sense. I'm glad you had a good and positive experience.

It really is about receiving when you are ready. I've tried a thousand times to quit but until I was ready, it didn't matter. I wouldn't have gotten any of it or received the experiences as I should have. Keep focused on remembering that alcoholism robs us of our memories of the costs of addiction so to be reminded by others drives it home. It is hard to see it in ourselves.

Hi.
When I look back I find it incredible how much inaccurate info I fed myself, like I’m OK while being among the living dead and thinking we all were OK.. The ISM spoke and unfortunately I listened until I heard what I needed to hear at a meeting about where active alcoholics end up. In prison, an institution, dead or worse to me, the misery of the living dead.

BFTGOG I got the message and have been sober for a lot of years now.

It works when we work it!

Be well
