New to Forum

I'm an addict named Geiser093,

I am new to the forum. My date is 3/3/2007. Yes tomorrow we celebrate 8 years. I just don't take the first one. I just got released from prison for a two year bit. I am trying to get back into the swing of being free and sober. So much has changed in my life in the last two years I feel crazy being home. I am in a good place it is just a strange one.

Money, working and getting overwhelmed and making bad decisions put me in jail. Now I am home taking things one day at a time. Here's the rub I have always been a worker, hustler, get up and go type guy. Now my wife has a great job and I am going to stay at home and be a Dad. I enjoy it is so much different I am struggling with my new role. It is a life change a lot like being newly sober. Everything is different.

I am grateful for this opportunity and want to take advantage of the simplicity of not working BUT for all you Mom's out there this is more work than running a construction business ever was.

You can't solve a problem with the same thinking that created it.

Welcome and I'm glad you joined us.

I think that being a stay-at-home Mom or Dad is very hard. It can get lonely and tiring at times. Do you have any connections with other parents in your area? Is there a drop-in centre for parents/caregivers where you can chat with others in your situation? And, try to take some time to do something you enjoy.

Welcome, geiser, to SR. Congratulations on 8 years of sobriety - very impressive.

You might to Google "Stay at home Dads" and the name of your town; you might find some support groups.

Glad you found SR.
