Sad Drunk

Binge drinking led to me losing everything. Sad and depressed.

Do you have a plan for overcoming this?

Welcome to SR!

Many of us had reached a point of loosing pretty much everything, health included. I let go of the bottle, got sober and now things are slowly improving.
You can as well, make a plan, get the support you require. There are so many options such as SR, AA, AVRT, SMART recovery.

Living sober is not easy, but possible.

Hi and welcome.

The road down the recovery path is simple, not always easy and that depends on our memory and our ability to NOT repeat the errors of our past.
It’s simple to say this will work “If we don’t pick up the first drink we won’t have to try to get sober AGAIN.” This fact along with a lot of work has worked for many for a lot of years.

A big help might be remembering how you felt when writing the above post and knowing you never have to feel that way again by keeping sobriety first.

BE WELL

Me too! Starting with nothing has it's advantages but we have to stay sober long enough to see that. I am and you can.

I feel your pain Drunkwriter. I'm a binger too. It has put the smack down on my life. I'm working on getting out of that miserable, dark place too. Welcome friend.

drinking has put a ***** in my armor as well. It hasn't taken me down, and I refuse to let it. That is why I am here. This place helps.

I'm only a week into this sobriety thing. Lots of "false starts" in my history. Or should that be "false stops"? Anyway...let's do this together, Drunkwriter!

Welcome. Binging is my problem too. I realised I cannot recover alone, it just does not work for me. I am clinging on to dear life, possibly the last thread of keeping things together.

You will find good support here.

I do. Start group therapy for alcohol and also behavioral therapy for child abuse this week. I got an appointment, found a meeting as soon as possible. Spouse has checked out emotionally. Can't deal with it anymore. Angry and hurt and doesn't understand how abandonment issues that I have from childhood can push away the people I love. I'm also getting back to the gym and doing yoga and meditation as well as cardio and weight training through various outlets.
I'm just sad that it took losing everything to get me moving on tackling my issues.

Unfortunately I live in the middle of nowhere. Looked for AA but too far away since I have limited vision in one eye (recent eye surgery from trauma during abusive childhood) so I can't drive at night very well long distances.
