Not lonely?

I wasn't really lonely till today. I've had my ups and downs just like everyone else.

I have 4 teen-age boys goofing off in my living room. (my son and three of his friends from school)

I got a job, only part-time. But it's something

I called my X today---still not sure if that was a good idea. I just do not want to close the gap between a father and a son.

Nothing that important to say

Thanks for letting us know what's up. Being on your own with kids around can be a kind of isolation. I used to feel like they're having fun & I'm not and what's wrong with me? Then...nothing that a drink can't fix. But a drink can't fix anything, and lonesomeness is a normal feeling.

What can you do that's fun in the house while they're playing -- cooking? hobby?

Etch these times on your mind and soul.

They will 'sustain' you in years to come.

One of my big reasons for quitting is so I can just enjoy being with my children playing without being an irritable grump. I'd say my yelling and grumpiness have gone way down, although the kids still taxing at times.

I also don't want to set a bad example by drinking heavily in front of them.

It's good to just enjoy the time with them. Too soon they will be grown up!
