Eating Everything In Sight....

OK, I'm at 27 days. Amazingly, I have almost no desire to drink. (At this point.... I'm not kidding myself.)

But I'm exhausted. I'm distracted. I'm still not getting anything done (pile of unpaid bills, I'm looking at you). And I feel like I'm eating everything in sight, especially during the witching hours in the evening.

I realize this may be PAWS. So, I'm seeking advice about dealing with PAWS, whether you think it is even real, any coping strategies. Importantly, anyway you guys stopped yourselves from eating yet another serving of coffee ice cream?

Thanks!

Go easy on yourself. 27 days is amazing! Can you throw some kind of physical activity in there to help?

Hi, Yes it was the same for me, in the first few months I ate everything that wasn't nailed down.
I was vague and my concentration was almost non existent.
I did suffer from Paws and continue to occasionally.
I think if you can eat good healthy options it is helpful, your brain and body are doing an enormous amount of healing work and need nutrients.
Also, our bodies crave the sugar that was in the booze.
Lots of fluid and vit B rich food. Exercise helped me.
27 days is so great, you are doing so well.

Thanks, y'all. Yes, I bet exercise would help. I've kind of been wallowing in my recovery a bit, and it seems like its time to start getting up and out a bit.

Congratulations on 27 days!!

Drink water instead of eating....tackle one little task or bill at a time....

You CAN do this!!

this is all so common for one new to sobriety
how I do remember all of the candies, goodies and second plates of food

warning
try to get a handle on it when you can
I see many in AA meetings today that are sober
but, have gained about 25 to 50 pounds since entering the doors of AA
most can handle the 25, but the 50 extra lbs. isn't that pretty on most people.

I'm feeling exactly the same at 41 days, and coffee ice cream is a constant here too! Yum.
No advice, but I feel ya.
Though I personally figure it's early days so if I'm pigging out or not concentrating/getting enough done, at least im not drinking!! and I can sort the rest of that out when I'm on more solid ground so to speak

Normal-- for me anyway. I still have days of constant eating at 8+ months but try to get it done during the day as laying down after eating gives mucho gerd. My weight has fluxed some but normal for this time of year. Booze has lotsa calories (mostly sugar). The body rebels a bit from the slower uptake of regular carbs IMO.

Well done on 27 days - if you eat a few extra calories I wouldnt be too hard on yourself. When I was drinking my only calorie intake was eh....alcohol.

Walk, jog or do something that keeps you away from the fridge.

Wishing you well.

Seven years sober
and due to my excessive eating
I have a little Buddha belly
better than being a shrunk down stoned person
