Cravings

I am today 4 weeks sober but have been troubled the last few days with no motivation, irritability and depression. My cravings have gone through the roof also. I have been detoxed 7 times now and I'm not giving in to this temptation so I thought I would join and see if this help venting my feelings with fellow sufferers. I am highly motivated and know I can just not even take a sip of a drink without me going into full blown dependence. I have nearly died in hospital a few times and still come out and started again with that first drink that lead to ten thinking I could drink sociably again. I know if I am to completely recover that I can never drink again. Thanks all.

Welcome to SR, Mc1982. Glad you found us and that you came here to vent.

Four weeks is great progress; are you working any kind of a plan for sobriety?

Welcome to the family. The mood swings sound like Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome to me. Google PAWS for more info, but it's the mind and body healing itself from substance abuse. Mood swings, anxiety, insomnia, inability to concentrate. It's the body and brain getting back to normal functioning. It takes time. Treat yourself well and be aware that you may feel like a basket case sometimes.

Congrats on four weeks sober! It gets better, I promise.

Both sound good, Mc.

SR can be a good supplement to your plan. Have a look around the site; there's a wealth of information here - not to mention a really great group of very supportive members.

Can you excercise? It helps tremendously!

Eat anything you want...as much as you want. Drink what you want...EXCEPT ALCOHOL !

YOU are stronger than the crave is...push it back into it's box and nail the lid on TIGHT !
