Healing Liver
Healing Liver
Hi guys,
I'm just so happy that I stopped drinking and that this forum is here to help. I heard from the doctor that my liver enzymes are back to normal range and it looks like my liver is healing. That was such a huge scare and I am so happy that I didn't give up but chose to fight and stop drinking.
I never want to drink again. Just wanted to share the good news that your body will heal if you treat yourself well and don't drink.

I used to have an elevated liver function. When the doctor asked me if I drank a lot I told him, not anymore than anyone else. He bought it. This was when I was in the military and I had drank with this doctor many times. He just assumed that I drank like him and all our other drinking buddies. Now my liver is normal too!

The liver IS a pretty amazing thing, performs literally hundreds of functions, many that we aren't aware of in our daily lives - hence when people stop drinking for long periods of time, they start feeling healthy in ways they weren't even aware of, as the inhibition to these functions happened so gradually over time.
And even if it's been over 50% destroyed by cirrhosis (can't remember what the exact figure is), with PROLONGED abstinence it will eventually heal even that, so I'm told.
