Vicky,
One thing I learned from SR is that recovery strategies are a very personal matter.
I started with SR morning, noon and night. There are also many great suggestions and you will find the experiences here to help you on your path to recovery.
I recently went back to AA and finally found a great, comfortable meeting. But it took years for me to do that and it is not the only tool in my recovery plan.
Just do everything that you can do and you will succeed.

You are in a lot of pain, now, Vicky, and we are not strangers to it, not by a long shot. Something has brought you to this point where you have come to accept that you must quit drinking. What is next? How do you move forward? What's next is for you to accept that. When you accept that you will quit drinking, you can start to create the vision of yourself, your sober self.
The next stage after that, is to accept that you have quit drinking, that the last drink you had is really your last drink of all. Now you can give yourself a chance to start again, sober this time. It is so much better, Vicky, being sober all the time. For good.
If you think you deserve to be sober and have a life without the misery you are experiencing now, then demand it, and accept nothing less. You can do this, you really can.
