Another Mistake
I suggested to my husband I need real Rehab. I just called in sick 3 days for drinks. So ashamed, so lost. Never was this my goal. I think he's ok with Rehab, it has to happen. It just has too.
Sounds like a wise decision...and a goal that will get you to a better place. View this for what it really is - an opportunity to finally get better, nothing to be ashamed of in the least.
I am so happy to see you, torn. I was looking for you just yesterday.
Rehab sounds perfect; you have been battling for so long. Embrace rehab and give it all you have and then some; I am so happy that you have made this decision.
Really glad that you are back with us. I've really missed you.

TORN!
So great to see you again fellow Febbie, sorry to hear it's in bad circumstances but reaching out for help is the right thing to do.
"Been trying to quit over a year now"
Yep, me too. But that's nothing to be ashamed of, the most important thing is you've been trying.
I keep screwing things up too. We will get this right eventually, IF we keep trying.

I agree with doggonecarl, if at all possible can you delay the class until after rehab?
I found at some AA meetings that rehab receives mixed reactions. For me it was an absolute life saver - went through a 6 week programme almost a year ago.
Hopefully this will be the best decision you've ever made
You are right. I basically won a lottery for Europe class. I put on my request non-drinkers. So here we go. I'm so lucky, why did I mess this up with booze. Egads.
Torn,
I'm sure that this Europe class is very important to you but sobriety is equally, if not more, important. If you go, will you continue drinking? Will you get as much out of it if you are drinking? Will you enjoy your time if you are drinking? Or will you be laying in bed, recovering from a hangover from the night before and missing out on the experience? The inside of a bar here in the States looks much like the inside of a bar in Europe.
I had a very hard time quitting on my own. I begrudgingly agreed to go to inpatient rehab for 16 days. It was probably the best thing I've done for myself. I kept putting off quitting. I'll get to it, eventually. Who will watch the kids? What will I do about work? Who will take care of the cats? It was always something.
I recommend inpatient treatment and if it's covered by your medical, even better. You can rest and not worry about drinking. You can focus on recovery. You can do it.
