Unhappy Newcomer Simon....Here's my story...

Hi! My name is Simon & I'm 36 yrs of age........Here's my story, I was diagnosed several years ago as suffering from a form of mental illness
called Paranoid Psychosis & Clinical Depression & none of these illnesses were brought on by smoking Marijuana because up until two days ago I had never used Pot.

It all started when I listened to the advice of a friend who said Marijuana could help me sleep better as I was suffering from Insomnia caused by my medications. Up until I tried Pot, my mental condition was stable & I was fairly happy with my life except for my sleeping problems.

Let me start by saying I NEVER want to try Pot again as long as I live!
I started smoking Pot less than a week ago when I had 8 Joints of the leaves
of a Marijuana plant & I thought it was a pleasurable experience at the time.
Then 5 days later my brother told me he had some low strength Marijuana
to try......Well, he lied to me & the Marijuana he gave contained Buds & Crystals & was high in THC!!

I think Marijuana SHOULD be illegal as it is a dangerous substance & while
stoned I lost control of my mind & what I did to myself by smoking it was equivalent to mental suicide!

I need some advice on what sort of withdrawal symptoms I will experience
& for how long.
I would greatly appreciate information on how to detox from Marijuana as well.
How long will I suffer Panic Attacks & Depression if I stay on my medication used to treat mental illness.
I take 50 mgs of Zoloft for Depression & 400 mgs of Solian for Panoid Psychosis & have been taking these meds long before I dabbled in Pot.....
Smoking Marijuana was the worst mistake I have ever made in my life....please help

Welcome to SR sh777...

Detoxing from pot...
This is from the Marijuana Anonymous website.

http://www.marijuana-anonymous.org/Pages/detox.html

I have no idea of what the interaction between your meds and the pot is... Have you spoken to your doctor at all?

I hope you find the answers your looking for...
You certainly don't need any complications ... and I hope you get some sleep..

Simon,
Thanks for logging on here. I will keep you in my positive thoughts.
Be sure to tell your doc what happened and mostly about the sleep problem. You should be able to get some relief, either by a proper Rx of relaxation techniques....not pot.
Best wishes!

sh777au-

Welcome! I am going to say a prayer for you tonight. Have you ever tried chamomile tea? It is very calming and it is also gentle.... I would like to say try not to worry and just stay away from the pot and know that you will see your doctor soon. I believe you will be alright. You were aware enough to reach out to us and we are here for you so post as often as you need to.....

Hi sh77,

We're glad your here. Most people I know have the reverse effect of sleeping when coming off the stuff. Your body is so used to it being in your system to sleep when you quit you end up with insomnia. As mentioned, it's a good idea to talk to the doc.

Shy777,
I also am in treatment for a chronic mental illness and am addicted to alcohol. Thank God I am now in recovery. It is not uncommon for people with mental health problems to use mind altering substances to ease some of the symptoms of thier illness but it is the wrong thing to do. Addiction can greatly complicate the struggle for stability in mental illness. I would qadvice you to let your psychiatrist know and ensure him that you do not wish to compromise your mental health with further use of substances. Good luck.

Hi...It's Simon again......I fell last night after going 7 days without Pot........
But I haven't given up giving up Pot...In fact my resolve to quit Pot forever is even
greater now.....Last night I only had 3 joints of the Marijuana leaf, but it will be my last.
I'm going to cut myself off from all my drug contacts & I got rid of my stash of Pot....
I'm determined to attend a Narcotics Anonymous meeting & never touch Pot again...
I don't need to be off my face anymore...whether it be Pot or Alcohol..............

Hi Simon,
Cutting off the drug users and dumping the pot stash are very good steps toward recovery. I am a recovering addict myself, and would highly recommend attending a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. That is where I met people who understand me, because they've been there. Hang in there. Tell yourself, "just for today, I don't have to use".

Sherry
