Can't sleep!!!

Can't sleep and I know I'll be tired in the morning. Still not tempted to drink though cause I just keep thinking it's better to be just tired than tired and hungover, depressed, anxious well you all know how it goes. Hope you are well

The can't sleep thing was hard in the beginning, but it did get better. I had the same attitude you do Adenough - I just tolerated it until things improved. Very happy to know you're not considering a drink.

It's gonna take time but it will get better!!

The body can't heal years of drinking in a matter of days, so hang in there!!

I can get to sleep ok but I only fall over for minutes then wake up and I'm wide awake and then of course I start thinking which is never good in the middle of the night. I just get up now and have a cup of tea and try to relax. I'll give it another hour then head back to bed. It really helps being able to post and read here

Try Sleepy Time Extra tea and melatonin. I know it sucks but it does get better!

Sleeping or lack of can be a pain but it does get better. When you do dream they will be nice deep dreams

I am on day 6 and I've realised that I have to give myself time to relax in bed before going to sleep. Accepting that I will spend 10 - 15 minutes lying in bed relaxing before trying to go to sleep has made things much easier and has helped alleviate some stress as I spend less time trying, but failing to sleep.

Oh, and hi SR!

My sleep clock was all over the place, still is, but that's just me.
A lettuce sandwich should do the trick.

Seriously, Adenough, I know exactly what you mean. I suffered that same malady for years. It was usually around 3 a.m. I would keep telling my self not to think about stuff, which just caused me to think about stuff even more. I normally was coming off the evening booze too, to which I kept saying "I gotta quit this crap." It would only repeat itself the next evening, then the next, etc. But after a few weeks of sobriety under my belt, it began to taper off. Now, I still wake up in the middle of the night, either by my wife's snoring or one or more of my four cats using me as a balancing bar, but I go back to sleep fairly easily now. It's something for you to look forward to as you progress in abstinence.
Your rest is on the schedule. Keep to the plan.

I had a really tough time getting to sleep last night (day 5) so I feel your pain! It was after 3am when I finally fell asleep and I'm just hoping to have more than 3 hours of sleep tonight. You're not alone! And thank you to all of those experts that tell us that it will get better. It's just a phase and it's well worth it - better to be tired than tired AND hungover.
