Ever DUI incarcerated
I am a 61 year old female who is being sentenced to jail next month by one of the toughest judges in US for first time DUI. Everyone serves jail time. Am scared to death. I no longer in the U.S. Judge may consider my doing probation in new home country. I backed out of my driveway across dirt road and got stuck in ditch after drinking. Know I did terribly wrong and have suffered anxiety and severe depression ever since Nov. getting harder closer and closer to my incarceration.
Well, have you stopped drinking? That will help alleviate the anxiety.
Many have had to do jail time due to drinking. I'm sorry you had that consequence. It will be okay.

Hi nelene and welcome to SR!
I've had two DWIs and had a little jail time. I was scared and anxious, too, but I did get through it and you will too. Have you made the decision to quit drinking? I really hope so, as I'm sure you dont want to go through this again!

I have 2. I did 6 weekends last summer.
I'm in Canada, we are very strict with DUI's. In fact, you wouldn't be able to enter Canada with that on your record.

No mean to sound cliche, but you could have backed your car and kill someone. Now living with this all your life would be worst than some jail time.
Chin up and stay positive. Make this your turning point!

Could you offer to go into rehab in place of jail time? I don't know anything about court cards or AA in Costa Rica...However, if you're able go to as many meetings as you can before your sentencing and try to get a court card signed at each meeting. Present to the Judge and it should help

Thank you for all the wonderful support. I need it so much now facing jail. Nov 7th was the last drink I took Have no intention of living this nightmare again. I have a sponsor here in Costa Rica and am working the 12 step program and reading other AA approved literature. I do not have a car here and am disabled so am doing from 1-4 hours/day on websites such as this. Chat rooms, forums, electronic meetings, etc. I feel it has helped a great deal. My sentencing judge is considered one of the worst with first time DUI. Her standard is always jail.
I have a shamefull collection of DUI. I avoided jail time but all together cost me close to 605 if you consider time lost. Etc. Glad I don't worry about that anymore. You will get thru and this may be your quit!!
