Why can't I sleep?
Bringing up this old post again!
Hey, I wanted to say thanks to all that congratulated me last January!! I really appreciate it! I thought I would bring this old post back up and let everyone know I have been sober for almost 8 years! It will be 7/31/04 since the last time I had a drink! That is awesome!! LOL!!
I hope you all are doing well. It's a tough battle, one step at a time.
On August 1, 2004, I woke up after having maybe 15 beers the night before and said to myself, "What are you afraid of?" I thought, I have a wonderful husband and I am very happy. So am I afraid I won't fall asleep? Sure, but does that mean I have to drug myself to sleep? NO!!! Is drinking good for me, I asked myself? NO!!! Why, why are you doing this??? So I stopped and here I am today. I still have problems sleeping but I am seeing a Naturopathic Doctor and we are working on it. I am 55 years old and have recently joined a gym and hired a personal trainer. My goal is to run a 5k race! I am very excited about it.
There is hope!! Good luck to everyone.

Soberween, unfortunately, my brother has not been able to overcome his disease. That is why I came back here. I went into the Families and Friends posts to check out what is up over there. Some great people there and really helpful advice. Thanks for asking!!

51 days clean and I did not sleep for at least two weeks and then when I did I sweated so much that it would wake me up. It sucked big time. Now finally I can sleep and it's a miracle....I was never able to sleep without drugs and now I can and I am so thankful...hang in there sleep will come..

I dont think Ive ever seen a thread this old "bumped" like this before.
Actually, its good to see you here Nancy. Your an inspiration. I found this site on my first day sober (9 days ago), and I am on here all the time now.
