Today is my 1st

my name is Lee and I am an alcoholic and user of cocaine.
I have always enjoied a drink and have been a daily user for the last 15 years but recently it has started to take over my life and for the last year or so I have been adding to my problems by throwing cocaine in the mix.

it has got to the stage where I cant do one without the other, always starting with the drink.

over the last year I started disappearing for days at a time only coming home to change clothes, my wife powerless to stop me sometimes screaming at me to stop before I go out to get more drink/cocaine.

in August I had a train smash moment and then again October and that led me to go and seek help from my local drug/drink advisory clinic,
I was advised to cut down the drink as stopping short could have given me more problems apparently so I tried that and it was working for a while then around Christmas time I had a Night out / Work Function where I did not plan on drinking at all and ended up having a skin full and arrived home at 6am.

I then decided that I HAVE to abstain from alcohol and that was working for a while and all of a sudden I started binging and disappearing and it happened again yesterday.

so I am back to day one.....

Help.

Lee

Welcome Lee. Getting rid of alcohol in my life was one of the best things I have ever done, I hope you can find the same.

You're not alone here, and the sooner you realize that the better. Start doing the things sober folks do--find out what that is by reading around and posting often.

Welcome to SR. Let us know how we can help you.

Coming here and posting is a solid first step. I'd recommend posting daily and making a commitment to just not drink for ONE moment at a time.

Glad to meet you.

Belated welcome to the forums mate. I'm pretty thrilled you got through day 1 Lee - I know it must not have been easy. I look forward to hearing how your second day went if you'll be around tonight (today for you Poms, haha), and how the missus enjoyed that treat you were cooking up . Talk soon mate.

Seb.
