Did you know it only takes a liver 1-2 years to replace every cell it has?
Hey everyone. Day 2 of sobriety here. I was watching a YouTube video on the liver. If your liver is a fatty liver due to alcohol, drugs, and junk food, it's obviously hurting quite a bit. Problem is there aren't many pain receptors in the liver so it's always a guessing game as to the amount of damage done (unless you get a bloodtest or biopsy)
Interesting fact though. A liver that isn't cirrhotic will regenerate EVERY cell in 1-2 years. Imagine how good your liver system would be after even 6 months of absinstence. It gives me goosebumps!
Anyways, off to the gym for me. Gotta sweat out this garbage in me

The liver has great regenerative abilities until it reaches the point where it doesn't; we never really know when that time comes - so much of the damage process is silent.
Let's take really good care of our livers.

I used to feel sorry for my liver when I was drinking. I have a buddy who is plenty educated and doing service for his community, yet he knows he is wrecking his liver and just kind of accepts it. And really doesn't want to hang out with me or have me over because he doesn't want to watch me not drink.
I'm just not cool because I have decided to give my liver a break.
I just thought: You know how someone will show up somewhere and say, "Wow, I really got drunk last night," and you will hear laughter? I asked myself one day, "What was the joke? What was funny?" It's only funny to other drinkers. You can even tell who the drinkers are by who laughs.
Congrats on day two.
